San Diego Surf Forecast - For Tuesday - 1/19/10

Make sure to read the full region forecast...it will help this one make sense, (Not promising any miracles though). Click here for the full forecast www.socalsurf.com.

The W swell will be on the rise throughout the day on Tuesday…but steady S winds will hamper conditions through most areas.

Look for consistent shoulder-overhead surf showing for most W facing breaks throughout the morning, both in South County (at the average spots) and the top spots in North County. The standout winter spots…the really well exposed WNW-NW facing breaks will have sets going overhead+ and bigger early in the day and well-overhead surf by the afternoon as the swell continues to fill in. There will be a few spots that can handle the S winds…but again water quality will be very poor so you might want to think hard about paddling into the nastiness.

S winds around 10-15 knots will be on tap for the morning…possibly a little SSE in a few areas. Building S winds continue through the afternoon eventually topping out around 15-25+ knots late in the day. More rain and a chance for thunderstorms will hold through the evening and overnight into Wednesday.
