San Diego Surf Forecast - For Tuesday - 1/12/10

Make sure to read the full region forecast...it will help this one make sense, (Not promising any miracles though). Click here for the full forecast www.socalsurf.com.

The surf will continue to be pretty solid in San Diego on Tuesday. The biggest size will stick mostly through the south half of the county, but there is enough energy coming in from all over that the whole county will have rideable surf once the tide drops off a bit.

Look for the average spots, and most of North County, to see surf in the chest-head high range. Standout WNW-NW facing spots will be in the shoulder-overhead range with some sets going a couple-feet+ overhead on the bigger sets (and the lower tides). Shapewise the points/reefs will have the best shape…but there may be a few beach breaks that have enough junk (piers/jetties/rocks) to punch a couple of corners in the mostly lined up swell.

Winds look good…mostly light and variable to light offshore for the morning…then variable onshore starting around brunchtime and holding through the afternoon. Keep an eye on conditions around sunset…it looks like those winds may lay down as the sun starts to slip out.
